Ok,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I screwed up. I bought my 18-month dd a pair of croc-type sandals that she could wear this summer. What I didn't know was that these sandals are apparently making her fall. Yesterday she fell in them outside and got a cut on her nose and a scrape on her forehead. This is the first time that we've known the sandals were causing her problems (she never seemed to be any more clumsy in them at home). But,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], MIL told DH yesterday that "these kinds" of shoes aren't allowed at daycare centers for just this reason.
If you're in a daycare center that has this kind of restriction,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], can you tell me if they allow any kinds of sandals,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and if so,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], what type? I'd still like to get her out of her sneakers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as we're heading into the muggy 80/90 degree portion of summer,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but I'm not willing to let her go around barefoot.
Ours has an unofficial closed toe policy - it's a home daycare,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but the kids play outside all the time and they fall and trip and it's better if their little feet are enclosed. And NO CROCS! They are much harder to run around in for the little ones. My DD insists on wearing her socks and lace up shoes every day no matter how hot it gets,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], so we don't really have that problem - but I think the LOs are okay with the ventilated closed toe sandals,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], they don't suffer and complain the way we do when we get older.
DS has been in 2 different daycares in the past. Both have had very strict no sandles and no croc policies. Sneakers that move with them and stay on are the best choice and as far as the heat goes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the shoes don't really make a difference. DS's summer camp has been playing outside here in the required sneakers with socks and we've been over 100 for 13 of the last 14 days with yesterday actually hitting an official 107.
