Gentlemen Bulldogs fans put players to shame,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
The Bulldogs fans, muscular young Lebanese-Australian men in blue and white jerseys, G-Star jeans and Nike TN sneakers, with ornately shaved hair styles and some sporting Arabic chin beards,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], might have looked menacing. But they behaved like perfect gentleman and ignored the provocation.
There was not a hint of any unrest among the sea of blue and white, crammed into the stadium,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], hailing from the most multicultural, most Muslim, and most criticised section of Sydney.
They may have been channelling the spirit of former Bulldogs hero Hazem El MAsri, who last week was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Western Sydney for his service as a leader of the Arabic community.
You don want to overplay El Masri influence,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but role models are important. Which is why it was such a shame that the players let themselves, and their fans down, with some disgraceful remarks to a female Channel Nine reporter during Mad Monday celebrations at Belmore Oval.
Player resentment of a culture inside and outside the media, ready to destroy their careers for off field misdemeanours, is understandable. But foul sexual slurs are no answer.
When Bulldogs management deals with the offending players,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], they might also consider ways to ease the pressure.
Keeping them holed up away from the media in contravention of NRL regulations after the game may have been an attempt to protect them from themselves,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. But clearly it wasn enough.
That your opinion Miranda. After you had rocks thrown at your head in the stands, your 14-year-old son assaulted by a couple of carrot-tops at Aussie Stadium for the crime of wearing an opposition jersey,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], been threatened with death for not handing over 10 dollars in a stadium queue, then you can complain. When the local constabulary tell you they hope your interstate team wins,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and when the hot dog vendors tell you they hope your team wins, and when the taxi drivers plead for your team to win, and when the NRL threatens the locals with home games minus the fans in the stands, there is a problem.
That said,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I believe a victor should be magnanimous, and a loser should be gracious. 99.9% of Storm fans welcome other clubs members. The taunts were not typical.
Sports administrators and marketeers encourage a tribal mentality to sell their product. as potential petty thugs and criminals. They herd everyone into the same mindset and penalize all and sundry with light beer rather than bother to catch and punish the transgressors.
You must have missed the Bulldogs supporters burning Storm supporter gear on Burwood Road. It was reminiscent of scenes of flag burning from other countries and is not what I would call gentlemanly behaviour.
The group you mentioned are an exception to what we are used to when attending any Bulldogs games,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. These are the same fans that cheered for 5 minutes to celebrate the injury to a player on the rival team.
As for the Melbourne Storm supporters you mentioned, no one likes a sore loser but sore winners are worse.

UP the Storm. F*ck the Bulldogs taunted some gloating Storm fans to a group of dejected Bulldogs supporters on Sunday night at ANZ stadium.
