New Nike Running Shoes
In launching their Spring 2009 collection, Nike has continued to focus on the four main running shoe categories: stability, cushioning, lightweight and motion control. Nike also understands that runners come in many different shapes and sizes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and so they have different requirements from their running shoes.
The Bowerman series - named after Nike co-founder and track and field coach Bill Bowerman - is a line of eight different models of running shoes, that focus on these four key categories. All have the basis of being lightweight,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], comfortable and durable.
The Zoom Equalon+ and Zoom Triax+ are considered the best stability shoes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], aimed at those who need help with pronation. For those who require a cushioned running shoe, models such as the Air Zoom Vomero+ focus mainly on providing ample cushioning to keep the feet comfortable during a run.
Heavier-footed people, who have a tendency to over pronate should look at a motion control running shoe, such as the Zoom Nucleus MC+. The shoes in the lightweight category are the Zoom Elite + and Zoom Skylon + as they are both aimed for speed and fast racing.
As well as the Bowerman series, the Spring 2009 collection also contains a full range of Cross Country shoes, Track and Field spikes, the retro-style Nike LDV Vintage 'Limited Edition', and updated versions of iconic lines such as the Air Max +.
The Air Max + is probably the most well-known line of Nike shoes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and was first released in 1987. The Air Max+ 2009 does not disappoint and is expected to be one of the biggest selling lines of the year. The shoes provide maximum cushioning and comfort by utilizing Flywire for targeted support and a dynamic fit. It also has an engineered heel collar which conforms to the shape of the foot.
New features of Nike Running Shoes
Some of the most recent Nike running shoes contain Flywire and Lunarlite foam. This is a type of thread that is composed of Vectran (the lightest and strongest material available), which is used in the upper part of the shoe. This minimizes weight and maximizes support. Shoes containing Flywire can weigh as little as just 93 grams. In terms of running spikes this has been described by some athletes as feeling "like spikes coming out of my feet".
A recent great development has seen Nike team up with Apple inc. to produce the Nike+ product - which monitors a runners performance via a radio device in the shoe, which then links up to an iPod nano. This allows users to track their distance, pace, calories,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], track their runs and set themselves goals.
Another great new feature is NikeiD,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which allows users to customize and buy their own footwear. This gives people a great deal of flexibility on the design of the shoe they are buying as it allows users to choose from a selection of colors, materials and designs.
