Pirates erupt for 7 in fifth; wallop Giants; keep NL Central lead
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 23 () -- The Pittsburgh Pirates scored seven runs in the fifth inning, whipped San Francisco 10-5 Thursday and held on to the lead in the NL Central.Jose Tabata's three-run double capped the big rally.After St. Louis beat Atlanta earlier in the day, Pittsburgh needed a win to keep the division lead.Garrett Jones and Jordy Mercer hit solo homers for the Pirates.Jeanmar Lopez (3-0) got the win.
