Arians: Cardinals were sluggish, playing on Thursday is no excuse
APThis season's slate of Thursday night games hasn't provided particularly exciting football, gucci outlet online, leading many fans to think the short week of preparation is resulting in substandard play. Cardinals coach Bruce Arians admitted after losing to the Seahawks on Sunday night that his team looked lousy, but he said it had nothing to do with playing on Thursday.“I thought we came out sluggish,” Arians said. “No excuses as far as Thursday Night Football and all of that crap. We didn’t break a sweat all week, so we should have been fresh.”The Cardinals came out slowly on both sides of the ball: The first five drives of the game ended in a Cardinals punt, a Seahawks touchdown, a Cardinals interception, a Seahawks touchdown and a Cardinals punt. Of course, the Seahawks had the same short work week and they didn't come out sluggish, so Arians is right that playing on Thursday can't be used as an excuse. The player who looked most sluggish early in the game was quarterback Carson Palmer, but Arians said he never considered benching Palmer in favor of backup Drew Stanton. If the Cardinals are going to turn it around, it's going to be with Palmer leading the way.
