Kratos' journey is at an end. The climactic final chapter of the God of War series had finally reached its climax, bolstered by the power of the PlayStation 3 and given a fittingly epic endcap. Riding a Titan already as big as a small mountain up Mt. Olympus? Yep, that's just the start. Try fighting on that Titan while it's moving. Could Sony's most capable in-house development team have finally faltered after three directors in so many games?
Hardly the biggest release of the year, especially when Mass Effect 2, Bioshock 2, and Splinter Cell Conviction came out this year. As a longtime fan I knew what to expect, and while it met my expectations it certainly didn't surpass them. There are plenty of games to watch this year. God of War is a great series, but it's time for an evolution in terms of Gameplay. If Kratos visits consoles again (there's another PSP game in the works) I hope that they expand the game world into a place players can explore at their leisure. Ancient Greece, as it's depicted in the God of War series is begging for an open world action adventure game.
