Coronation Street takes home eight prizes at British Soap Awards
TRAFFORD, England, May 19 () -- "Coronation Street" won eight prizes Sunday at the British Soap Awards, compared to just one award for its rival, "EastEnders."The IVT show won best soap,[url=http://www.christianalouboutin.co.uk]christian louboutin Uk[/url], best storyline and best actor for Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone."Coronation Street" won three of the five awards that were voted for by the public, the BBC reported. A panel chose the other award winners.Malcolm Hebden, who plays Norris Cole in the show, accepted the best soap award."We're all thrilled and the public have voted for us so we must be doing our job properly," he said. "Thank you the public. We love you.""Hollyoaks" won five awards, including best actress for Claire Cooper, who plays Jacqui McQueen."Eastenders," which went into the ceremony with 15 nominations, received the lifetime achievement award."EastEnders" won seven awards last year, including best soap.
