But 'Boston Legal' is Totally Realistic,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
In the National Law Journal last year,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], one November story included a defense lawyer's comment that "'CSI' makes a prosecutor's job more difficult." And a February 2006 story focused on district attorneys across the nation grumbling about a so-called "'CSI' effect" that makes juries require more sophisticated scientific evidence,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and that clues suspects in on how to destroy evidence. And it's not just prosecutors lamenting the impact of the TV franchise. In a story that Cal Law did back in 2004,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the defense side was comparing jurors' blind trust in DNA evidence to "the 'CSI' method of solving crime."
It's also not just occasional. In the last week alone,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a prosecutor in Colorado reportedly asked potential jurors in an attempted murder case if they watched "CSI,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," adding,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], "Do you realize science has limits,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and we do not have a camera in the sky that constantly watches what's going on in the world?" A prosecutor in an Alaska murder case used voir dire to question potential jurors about their "CSI"-watching habits,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], asking if they expected a real trial to be like that,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and if they thought every case should have DNA evidence. Jurors in Missouri,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], meanwhile,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], specifically discounted the "CSI" effect,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or a tendency to want iron-clad evidence based on unrealistic expectations from a TV show,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as a factor in their decision to acquit a man of rape. According to the Kansas City Star,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], they said they just found the defendant more credible than the victim.
