Mayor Michael Bloomberg said the New York City Marathon declared the race would go ahead on Monday (ADST),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].

Fearnley flew to the US on Tuesday with his sights firmly set on going one better than the two second places he has recorded in the famous marathon the past two years,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
"I've tried to win there the last two years and failed so this is important to me,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," said the multiple Paralympic champion and wheelchair racer who has won more than 35 marathons during his stellar career.

The marathon has an estimated $350 million economic impact for New York and is one of the biggest sporting events held in the city,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
New York's Kennedy and Newark Liberty airports have re-opened with limited service. New York's LaGuardia Airport,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which suffered far worse damage and where water covered parts of runways,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], remained closed this morning.
